Innovative chain clock suitable for home or office. These clocks feature laser-cut acrylic numerals and motor mounts. They keep accurate time by using industrial synchronous A/C motors, in combination with a laser-cut set of rotating drive gears. Unlike the other clocks in this series, this particular model uses actual bicycle chain and a rear gearset. These are new components, not used take-offs. Not that there's anything wrong with recycling, it's just that getting used ones with the right number of teeth isn't really do-able.
Designed to be wall-mounted, the number chain hangs about 30 inches below the main sprocket. Unlike the other designs, there is no included "frame" to hide the cord. There are several available methods for doing so at your local hardware store, or if you're handy, the cord could be run inside of the wall.*
PLEASE NOTE: The motor which provides accurate timing is designed to operate on US/Canadian AC power. (110 volt, 60 Hertz) Most international power suppliers deliver power to your home at ~230 volts, 50 Hertz, and will not work.
Reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_power_systems to confirm your local power supply is 60Hz if you are outside of the US or Canada. This model can not be modified (currently) to accurately keep time using 50Hz power. Please contact me if you really want one for international use, and I'll try to figure it out.
*Needlessly Complex makes no guarantee that you won't do something dumb while tearing up your wall and/or messing with electricity, so only attempt this if you know what you're doing.
